2.Course Format The course takes the form of activity briefs that are to be completed in each of the five weeks. The activity brief of each week focuses on a specific topic in accounting that teachers find problematic to deliver and learners find difficult to understand. Each activity brief consists of baseline assessment activities, formative continuous assessment activities, a video on the topic, further reading material and a summative assessment activity at the end of the week. All the activities and assessments are completed and submitted in the online collaborative learning environment of wikispaces. At the end of the course the participants will compile a portfolio that they will submit online and which will be marked with a rubric.
3.Course target market This course is designed for high school accounting teachers who want exciting and engaging ways of integrating authentic learning experiences and 21st century skills into their teaching practices and also make their classrooms collaborative learning environments.

5.Requirements of the course
Participants should have a basic understanding and access to ICT and the internet applications, log in to their course modules at least 3 times a week, answer emails, monitor discussions, post reminders and hold online discussions with their co-participants.
Participants should also be ready to undertake the course, which they can determine by completing these baseline assessments:
Collaborative learning in online spaces is one of the more progressive learner-centred and task-based approaches instead of the traditional teacher-centred approaches that promote rote learning and memorization. The traditional teaching method seems to be no longer able to produce the desired outcomes anymore, with the result that teachers are continuously in search of the answer to “What can be done to improve performance in our subjects?”
You are required to illustrate that collaborative learning in online spaces can contribute to effective teaching and learning by creating an artefact that consists of your best activity in each of the following activities completed during the course.
